I’m on Twitch! I’m going to be a streamer! And I legit have no idea what I’m doing!
If I thought setting up a Twitch account was going to be easy and straightforward, boy was I wrong.
Normally I can work my way through most anything with a little time and effort. Trial and error so to speak. But good grief am I out of my element here.
Twitch itself isn’t so bad. I don’t understand what half the settings are, but I can move across it fairly easily and it’s straightforward for the most part. The streaming software is the part that confuses the heck out of me.
I’m very fortunate that my brother streams and knows exactly how to set up everything (You can find his channel here: https://www.twitch.tv/halfmaskgaming). Even watching him do it though was confusing as all get out. I don’t understand why it has to be so complicated but okay. I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I use it more.
I’m pretty excited to be doing my first stream today. A bit scared since I don’t really know what I’m doing, but there is an element of adrenhaline that comes from stepping off and doing something that you’ve never done before. Especially when you struggle with really bad anxiety and can come up with thirty different reasons why you shouldn’t do something.
*Bob poofs into existence*

Bob: *Scroll in one hand and feather pen tucked behind his ear(?)(Does he have ears? Idk, I always envisioned him as a round ball)* Are we talking about things that could go wrong or reasons why you shouldn’t be streaming?
Me: You just had to show up today and hit me where it hurts the hardest, didn’t you.
Bob: Well, of course. That’s my job. Remember what your therapist said, I’m probably just a part of you that’s working overtime to keep you safe.
Me: Agreed, now you can kindly go f*** off and let me work my way through this. Actually, let me rephrase that. I appreciate what you’re doing for me by trying to protect me, but please trust me and let me have control. I’ll keep us safe.
Bob: *Makes concentrated glaring face while thinking it over*
Bob: Okay, you win. But if anything goes wrong, I will throw you in a dark closet and make you think about your decisions for all eternity.
*Disappears in a cloud of smoke*
Me: HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HELP ME.
Thank you for your input Bob, much appreciated. . . I was going somewhere with this blog post. Or was I? I don’t honestly know. I feel pretty discombobulated right now.
I had a minor surprise that scared the shit out of me last night. Wasn’t anything bad, just left me confused and, well, more confused honestly. Certainly not on my A game right now. Maybe Bob is messing with my mind.
That being said, streaming today is gonna be interesting.
My fix will probably involve coffee and no small amount of sugar. I think the real problem is that I’m distracted. Not sure what to do to fix that. Granted, sleep deprived and on coffee is often an entertaining combination. I lose my inhibitions and act like an idiot. I tend to enjoy it more than I care to admit.
Maybe my stream will be saved after all?
Anywho. I was planning on streaming Path of Exile today, but since I’m still trying to finish my first playthrough of it, I decided to wait and stream something else instead.

Path of Exile is an awesome game. It’s an online Action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. When I started playing it again the other day, I was struck how much it reminded me of Game of Thrones. I’m no stranger to dark fantasy, my own fantasy book series would probably fit in the category. But holy hand grenades is this game disturbing. Not even in a horror way, just a plain disturbing, I’m going to have nightmares way.
It’s an incredibly complicated game with dozens of different parts and effects for the game. I’ve gotten through it so far with blind luck and spam clicking. I only have a semi clear idea how it works. I enjoy the story though and the gameplay is fascinating. I really love the fact that there are hundreds of ways you can customize your character.
The lore is pretty cool as well, but tends to go all over the place and can be difficult to follow. I’ve got the slightest idea about what’s going on, but that’s about it. You basically just go around and point and kill things.
The game is not like any other game I’ve played that I can think of. The type isn’t what I’m used to, but I still love it. I’m really glad I got back into playing it. I stopped a couple years ago because I got stuck on this stupid puzzle trial and couldn’t get past it. I’m hoping to finish it soon and start streaming my playthrough sometime this month or the beginning of next month. Keep an eye out if it’s something you think you’d like to see!
I’ll do a review of the game once I actually finish playing through it completely.
The game I’m planning on streaming today is called Late Shift. I ran across a video on YouTube last night of Jacksepticeye playing it. If you’re not familiar with Jack, he’s one of the biggest YouTuber gamers on the platform currently with somewhere around 25 million subscribers. He’s incredibly entertaining and his Irish accent is charming.
Late Shift is an interactive crime drama movie where you can change the outcome by making different decisions. You play as the main character and get swept along in an intrigue to steal an ancient Chinese pottery piece. You can get seven different endings depending on the decisions you make. I want to try and stream all seven and eventually post videos of them on YouTube.
The quality of the game is exquisite. It looks like an actual movie. And for only $12.99 on Steam, why not? (Find it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/584980/Late_Shift/) I’m curious to see what the different endings are. Slightly disappointed there are only seven, but the game developers only have so much of a budget and film is expensive. Realistically though, with the amount of choices, you would have dozens of endings.
Expect a review for the game within the next week or so!
That’s about it I guess. Gaming is part of my background and part of what makes me who I am. I remember playing games when I was five. I’ve been doing this for years. It’s not like it’s been a huge passion or time consumer in my life (Except in my college years when I was stressed to the breaking point and would binge play for hours on end just to cope), but I’ve always enjoyed it and I look forward to being a part of the community.
I hope some of you will join me in this journey and watch me as I flail my way through streaming. It’s bound to be entertaining at least!
You can find my channel here: https://www.twitch.tv/mirielstark. I’ve also got my account linked in my social media links in the footer. I’m expecting the stream to start around 5pm Central time this evening. I will most likely be using Twitter to send out a notification for the actual start time. I hope to see you then!
Happy reading and gaming all my dear readers!
